Rekero & Naboisho Habari

Naboisho introduces: Fly Camping!

At the beginning of August we launched a new activity at Naboisho: Fly camping. An exclusive, private night away from our main camp where you sleep under the stars, close to nature. This small and intimate lightweight camp is perfect for those seeking a bit more adventure while letting you discover the more remote parts of the Mara-Naboisho Conservancy (please note that fly camping should be booked in advance).

Our first guests really enjoyed the experience and the feedback received was very good. About ten hours of walking was done over the afternoon and the following morning's walks from the camp. On foot we encountered lions and three herds of elephant. Naboisho is proud to be the only camp in the conservancy to offer fly camping and extended walking safaris.

Wildlife sightings have been quite spectacular, with almost daily sightings of lion and cheetah. The night drives at Naboisho are becoming popular amongst guests, especially as aardvark have already been sighted twice this season, a very rare sighting indeed. Another animal that was spotted is the "Striped Pole Cat" or "Zorilla", which is also extremely rare to see.

The Loita Wildebeest Migration is in full swing! Literally thousands of wildebeest and zebra are pouring into the conservancy from the north. For the predators it is a time of plenty as they take wildebeest and zebras at will. Even a large adult male leopard was spotted one morning, walking through a wildebeest herd nonchalantly – looking for the old, weak or young ones!

Two young local safari guides - Christine Malaso Pesi and Daniel Moonka - who recently graduated from the local Koyaki Guiding School, have joined our Naboisho Camp team for the high season and are doing very well. We are proud to have a woman as part of our guiding team, also one of the first female safari guides in the area!

We would like to thank all our guests for posting reviews on TripAdvisor, as Naboisho now proudly ranks number 4 in the Mara! We are all very proud of this achievement!

Warm safari regards,
Roelof, Helen & the Naboisho Team
